Actually, Christoph and Anne only wanted to deliver a refrigerator. But their plans go wrong and the pair suddenly end up right in the middle of a school, not in a cake shop. Tired from lugging all that weight around, Christoph decides to have a little break, and asks Anne to sing a story to him in the meantime – preferably about a knight. In an instant, the sports hall turns into the kingdom of the bold knight Odilo, whom Christoph, to his great delight, is allowed to play and sing. But for the moment, there's nothing much going on in the knight's kingdom where, stupidly, it's deepest winter: Odilo's horse has caught a cold, the dragon is hibernating and even the snooty princess has cold feet. So Odilo has had enough and decides to take up arms and go to war with Lord Winter! And the adventure takes a completely unexpected turn ...
Mareike Zimmermann's travelling opera for children is an imaginative piece about the battle with boredom and is great fun achieved with the simplest resources. Two singers and a pianist are enough to tell this story full of wit and poetry: live, lively all-round entertainment.
