Minutemade
»Choose a Choreographer«
Everyone is familiar with the popular television format of the soap opera, which chains its loyal viewers to the TV screen week after week and which always abruptly breaks off its episodes at the most exciting moment so that the tension can be maintained until the following week. The same principle is also applied for »Minutemade«, the weekly dance soap of the Gärtnerplatztheater.
Here, each of the participating choreographers has precisely a each to develop a new dance performance, together with our ballet ensemble, which is then presented to the public in the form of a »snapshot«. What makes it special: As with a television soap opera, every new episode must begin precisely where the previous one left off – the previous choreographer's creation flows seamlessly into the new episode. Spontaneous live interactions between the choreographers and with the audience are definitely welcome on the evening of the performance.
In past years, it has always been external choreographers who have accepted Ballet Director Karl Alfred Schreiner's invitation to Munich, but this year, eight young up-and-coming talents from the theatre's own company will have the chance for the first time to show their gifts as choreographers. But the rule is just the same for them too: »One room. One week. 20 dancers.«
Price: €20.
