Chamber Concerts 2012/13
Aperto a barocco
Just before Christmas, we are inviting everyone to a concert focussing solely on works from the golden age of High Baroque.
The programme features arias from Advent and Christmas cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann, plus trio sonatas for flute, violin and basso continuo by Bach and Telemann including pieces from the Tafelmusik. The concert will open with a trio sonata for two oboes, bassoon and basso continuo by Jan Dismas Zelenka.
The vocal sections will be sung by the mezzo-soprano Barbara Schmidt-Gaden, who in the years 2001 to 2007 was a permanent member of the soloists' ensemble of the State Theatre on Gärtnerplatz in Munich, with whom she continues to appear as a welcome guest.
Programme:
Georg Philipp Telemann: Extracts from the cantata for the 3rd Sunday in Advent "Vor des lichten Tages Schein"
Jan Dismas Zelenka: Trio sonata no. 1 in F major for two oboes, bassoon and basso continuo
Johann Sebastian Bach: Extracts from cantata no. 132 for the 4th Sunday in Advent "Bereitet die Wege, bereitet die Bahn"
Johann Sebastian Bach: Trio sonata in G major BWV 1038 for flute, violin and cello
Johann Sebastian Bach: Extracts from the Christmas Oratorio BWV 248
Georg Philipp Telemann: Quartet in G major from the Tafelmusik
Concert-goers will be able to visit the permanent and temporary exhibitions for a reduced admission price if they show their concert ticket at the museum ticket desk.
