2016 International MUT Author's Competition
The annual MUT Competition for Musical Entertainment Theatre organised by the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz aims to discover and encourage outstanding artistic personalities in the world of musical entertainment theatre.
After artists were given the chance to show their talent in singing and performing in 2015, it will be the turn of the composers, lyricists and authors in 2016 – in cooperation with the August Everding Theatre Academy and Munich University of Music and Drama!
German-speaking and internationally creative people of any nationality who have an affinity with musical entertainment theatre (musicals, operettas) are invited to develop dramatic concepts on a theme of their choice and to apply to become competition-winners.
From the concepts submitted, our international jury of specialists, made up of artistic directors, dramaturgy experts, publishers and famous authors from the German and international music theatre scene, will select, in what we call »blind auditions«, i.e. without knowing who the writers are, a total of six concepts which will then be rehearsed by students from the »Musical« department of the Bavarian Theatre Academy and presented to an audience at the public final presentation »Free for the Premiere!«. Afterwards, the jury will then award the prize worth €5,000 to the winner. An audience prize and a media prize (each 1.000 €) will also be awarded.
