»Hola México«

The orchestra of the Gärtnerplatztheater on tour

From 20 to 26 November, the Orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz will be guesting in Mexico for the first time in its history and playing two symphony concert programmes with works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert and Joseph Haydn in famous concert halls in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Morelia under the baton of its Principal Conductor Marco Comin.

In total, 36 musicians in a Mozart-size ensemble will be travelling to Central America, accompanied by the horn player Christoph Eß as soloist.

This unusual guest appearance is a highlight of Mexican cultural life this autumn. For concert audiences and the Orchestra of the Gärtnerplatztheater alike, it represents both a particular challenge and a unique experience. The first stop for the Orchestra is the Teatro Diana in Guadalajara. As part of the Festival de Morelia the musicians will be appearing in the Palacio de Gobierno. The tour will conclude with three concerts in Mexico City. The guest performances will be supported by a donation by the Friends of the National Theatre.
