Japan tour
The orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz is eagerly looking forward to its tour of Japan in April/May 2026. During the two-week tour, the musicians will perform in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya and at the Gargan Music Festival in Kanazawa, among other venues.
The varied programme includes symphonic repertoire, including works by Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Richard Strauss, as well as excerpts from musicals and operas by Giacomo Puccini, Leonard Bernstein, Carl Maria von Weber and Richard Wagner.
Michael Balke, principal guest conductor of the Gärtnerplatztheater, will conduct the large orchestra. Also participating are Gärtnerplatztheater ensemble members Réka Kristóf (soprano), Lucian Krasznec (tenor) and Matija Meić (baritone), as well as other top-class soloists such as Mone Hattori (violin), Hayato Kodama (trumpet), Gidon Kremer (violin), Tomoki Sakata (piano) and Mariko Senju (violin).
