Alice in wonderland

Alice lives in a black-and-white world. In this colourless, stifling reality, where everything is so painfully monotonous, she feels increasingly lost. She struggles with the feeling of not belonging. Even the book she is about to read in the school playground has no pictures. In the midst of these thoughts, as if out of nowhere, a mysterious white rabbit appears. He seems to be in a great hurry, and just as quickly as he arrived, he suddenly vanishes, but drops his handkerchief. When Alice tries to return the handkerchief and follows him, she accidentally ends up in a completely different world. Everything is colourful and full of bizarre characters: the Dormouse, the Dodo, the Flamingo, the Caterpillar, even a talking flower and other strange creatures, all of whom are a bit odd but very interesting. This can only be Wonderland! Unfortunately, they are oppressed by the evil Queen of Hearts, who immediately tries to banish Alice from her kingdom. Fortunately, the Cheshire Cat takes the girl under his wing and brings her to the Mad Hatter’s house, where he is celebrating his Unbirthday. Step by step, Alice learns to look beyond appearances and see the world through new eyes. Will she find the courage to be true to herself, and can she change not only Wonderland but also herself?

With »Alice in Wonderland«, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and NEUEN JAZZSCHOOL München e. V. are collaborating for the second time. This year’s Wonderland Band consists of one female student, four male students and the musical director Eugen Bazijan, who teaches at the school.
