WALDMEISTER (2024/2025)
zum Stück

The ensemble tries to find refuge in the Hotel Zur Waldmühle, which is currently being renovated, as a storm breaks out. Some hold umbrellas or other objects they have to hand over their heads. Two workers peek out from behind a curtain in the hotel.

Botho sits on a chair between Pauline and Regina. He is holding a bouquet of woodruff in his hand. Erich stands in front of them and points his index finger accusingly at Botho.

Erasmus Friedrich Müller, a middle-aged man, kneels in front of a chair in the hotel lobby and leans on it for support. He has a camera hanging around his neck and is wearing rubber boots. Behind him, Martin the caretaker is mopping the floor and looks at him questioningly.

Jeanne has now also arrived in the lobby of the Hotel Zur Waldmühle. She is holding an umbrella and looks puzzled when she hears Erasmus Friedlich Müller behind her. He is standing on the stairs leading to the first floor without his trousers on. A craftsman is standing on the gallery with his T-shirt draped over his shoulder, looking down sceptically at the two of them.

A street scene. Several young people on the left are looking at Pauline, who is talking to two gentlemen on the right of the picture. The gentlemen are Councillor Danner and Christof Heffele. Pauline is gesturing expansively while the gentlemen stand very stiffly and eye her critically. In the background, a young woman named Regina is standing in a yellow telephone box marked “Fernsprecher” (telephone) and dialling a telephone number.

Freda gazes amusedly into the distance while Botho kneels behind her on a chair and charms her. The lighting in this scene is rather dark and cool. It takes place at the Heffeles' estate.

Tymoleon sits overwhelmed between Freda and Pauline on a sofa while the two young women talk over him. Behind Pauline stands the unimpressed Jeanne. Erich and Botho are highly amused, Regina seems indignant.

Mr Heffele awkwardly holds a stack of newspapers in front of him, on top of which lie a few sprigs of woodruff. Sebastian, his servant, colours the woodruff with black ink and laughs mischievously.

The ensemble stands, or rather sits, lined up in front of a serving trolley with several teapots and green glasses. The mood is partly exuberant, partly sceptical.

The people in the picture appear to be tipsy, many holding glasses in their hands. Some are beginning to undress. Three couples form in the foreground: Tymoleon and Pauline, Jeanne and Erasmus Müller, and Freda and Botho. The scene is lit by cool night-time lighting.

The morning after a wild night. Except for Sebastian, all the people pictured are scantily clad. The couples Botho and Freda, and Tymoleon and Pauline, sit closely entwined on his sofa. Between them, Mrs Heffele has her arm around her husband. To the left of the sofa, Councillor Danner is vomiting into a basket. Behind him, Regina and Erich can be seen kissing. Erasmus Friedrich Müller and Jeanne are also kissing in the herbarium. An extra looks puzzled at the camera.
