Vittorio Vitelli
The Italian baritone Vittorio Vitelli made his debut as Rigoletto in 1996 and won 3rd place at the international Operalia competition in Bordeaux in the same year. This marked the beginning of his international singing career, which has since taken him to the Teatro Real de Madrid (»La traviata«), the Liceu Barcelona (»La Gioconda«, »Il trovatore«, »Tosca«), La Scala Milan (»Aida«), the New National Theatre Tokyo (»Andrea Chénier«), the Teatro La Fenice in Venice (»Falstaff«) and the Bregenz Festival in numerous roles. He sang roles such as Verdi’s Simone Boccanegra in Beijing, Macbeth at the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Escamillo (»Carmen«) in Hong Kong, Marquis Posa (»Don Carlo«) at the Georgian State Opera in Tbilisi and Iago (»Otello«) in Athens. He has worked with conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Myung Whun Chung, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Chailly. 2023 he makes his debut at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz as Miller in »Luisa Miller«.
