Simone Stäger
Soprano Simone Stäger has been a permanent member of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz chorus since the 2000/2001 season. She also regularly performs choral solos and smaller roles, including solo maid in »Martha«, solo quartet in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«, solo quartet in »Candide«, fisherman’s wife in »Peter Grimes« and Russian mother in »Death in Venice«. She also appeared at the Gärtnerplatztheater as the Sandman and Taumännchen in »Hänsel und Gretel« and was an honorary member of the choir board for several years. As Mascha in »Pique Dame«, she appeared on stage at the opera festival in Schloss Maxlrain, Bad Aibling. She is also active both as a soloist and as an ensemble singer in the field of sacred music.
Simone Stäger has worked with her teacher Philip Doghan, lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music in London, for many years. Her solo repertoire includes roles such as Fifteen-year-old (»Lulu«), Blonde (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Queen of the Night (»Die Zauberflöte«), Papagena (»Die Zauberflöte für Kinder«), Christel (»Der Vogelhändler«), solo soprano in Handel’s »Messiah« and solo soprano in Bach’s »Matthäuspassion«. Before moving to Munich, she was engaged as 1st soprano in the choir of the Mannheim National Theatre.
