Sergii Magera

The bass Sergii Magera, born in Zolotchiv (Ukraine), received his musical training at the Academy of Music in Lemberg. After graduating, his first engagement took him to the National Theatre in Kiev, with which he is still closely associated today. Since 1997, Sergii Magera has also been a regular guest at the Shaljapinsky Festival in Kazan (Russia).

In 2001, Sergii Magera made his debut at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest as Capulet in Gounod's »Roméo et Juliette«. This engagement was followed by a large number of guest appearances in cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Barcelona and Tokyo. His repertoire also includes the roles of the Pimen in Mussorgsky's »Boris Godunov«, Don Basilio in Rossini's »Il barbiere di Siviglia«, Raimondo in Donizetti's »Lucia di Lammermoor« and Ramphis in Verdi's »Aida«. In April 2013 Sergii Magera made his debut at the Opera House in Toulon as Sarastro in Mozart's »Die Zauberflöte«.

In addition, Sergii Magera has taken part in various singing competitions and is the winner of countless awards and prizes. In 2002, for example, he took first place at the international singing competition in Bilbao (Spain) and in the Città di Alcamo competition in Italy.
