Michael Lerchenberg

Michael Lerchenberg is an actor, director, screenwriter and theatre director. After graduating from high school, he studied theatre studies, German language and literature and history. He was accepted to the Otto Falckenberg School in 1977 and graduated in 1979. He teaches at the Bavarian Theatre Academy and the University of Music in Munich in the »Drama/Musical« course and was the director of the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel from 2004‒2017. In addition to his teaching activities, he has appeared in numerous television productions and series, including »Löwengrube« and »Der Bulle von Tölz«. He is also known for his portrayal of former Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber at the annual strong beer tapping at the Nockherberg in Munich. From 2008‒2010, he appeared at the strong beer tasting in the traditional role of Brother Barnabas and set new standards with his Lenten sermons. Michael Lerchenberg is the winner of the »Bavarian Poet Laureate of the Munich Tower Writers«. For his successful work as a theatre maker on and behind the stage of the Luisenburg Festival, he has been awarded the »Friedrich Baur Prize« for the performing arts and the »Bavarian Prime Minister’s Prize of Honour«.
