Marvin Ott
Marvin Ott has been designing stage sets and costumes for theatre, opera and dance since 2017. Ott was born in Heilbronn, studied scenography at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and worked as an assistant at the Hanover State Opera. Marvin Ott's work has been seen at the Opera Stabile of the Hamburg State Opera, the State Theatre in Braunschweig, the Hanover State Opera, the Landungsbrücken Theatre in Frankfurt, the National Opera in Riga, the City Theatre in Bremerhaven, the Landestheater in Coburg, the Anhaltisches Theater in Dessau and the Theatre in Bielefeld. Ott has been working closely with director Kornelius Eich since 2021. Together they created »Ich bin der Wind«, »Das weiße Dorf« and »Zur Nacht« at the Theater Landungsbrücken Frankfurt, »Demian« at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven and »Break of Day« at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau.
Marvin Ott collaborated with choreographer Marco Goecke on »Der Liebhaber« and »A Wilde Story« at the Staatsoper Hannover, as well as »Nijinski« in a new production for the Latvian National Ballet in Riga. Ott made guest appearances at the Landestheater Coburg in 2023 for the stage design of »The Wizard of Oz« (director: Matthias Straub) and »Hansel and Gretel« (director: Neil Barry Moss). In 2023 and 2024, Marvin Ott was responsible for the overall design and set design of the opera balls »Bésame Mucho« and »Let the Sunshine In« at the Hanover State Opera. Together with director Nick Westbrock, Marvin Ott realised »The Convert« at the Bielefeld Theatre in 2023/24 and »Pippi Longstocking« in the following season. In addition, Ott is designing the stage set for »Wolf« (director: Nadja Loschky) at the Theater Bielefeld in the 2024/25 season, the stage and costume design for »Die Laborantin« (directed by Marie Schwesinger) at the Theater Kiel, and the costume design for Marco Goecke's new creation »Le Sacre du Printemps« at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich.
