Maria Fiselier

Dutch mezzo-soprano Maria Fiselier graduated in 2013 from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, with a distinction for musical and theatrical artistry. In the season 2012/2013 she was a member of the National Opera Studio in London.

Her most recent engagements include the role of Zweite Magd in Straussʼ »Daphne« and of Alto in Wolfgang Rihmʼs »Jakob Lenz«, both at La Monnaie in Brussels, Delia in Rossiniʼs »Il viaggio a Reims« at the Dutch National Opera, La Contessa di Ceprano in a concert version of »Rigoletto« at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, a program with highlights of »Carmen« at the Miyazaki International Music Festival in Japan, Susie in Bernsteinʼs »A quiet place« in a production of Ensemble Modern at the Konzerthaus Berlin and at Opera Holland Park in London she sang the roles of Suzuki in »Madama Butterfly« and Serena in Wolf-Ferrariʼs »I gioielli della Madonna«. At the Aldeburgh Music Festival she performed the role of Nancy in Brittenʼs »Albert Herring« and other roles on the opera stage have included Dorabella in »Così fan tutte« and Mercédès in »Carmen« in a production of Festival Classique with The Hague Philharmonic.

Her concert repertoire includes numerous oratorio’s such as Durufléʼs »Requiem«, Vivaldiʼs »Gloria«, Rossiniʼs »Petite Messe solennelle«, Honeggerʼs »Le Roi David« and Bachʼs »Weihnachtsoratorium«, »Matthäus-Passion« and »Magnificat«. She recently made her debut in the Beethovenʼs Symphony Nr. 9 at De Doelen in Rotterdam.                                       

She already has worked with several internationally renowned orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of London Sinfonia and with conductors such as Kent Nagano, Steuart Bedford, Kenneth Montgomery, James Gaffigan, Franck Ollu, Lothar Koenigs and Stefano Montanari.

Maria studies with Sasja Hunnego and participated in several master-classes given by John Fisher, Brindley Sherrat, Rudolf Jansen and Joyce DiDonato. In 2011 she won the audience price at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours and at the International Vocal Competition 2012 in s’Hertogenbosch she won six prizes, including the »Young Talent Award«.
