Marco da Silva Ferreira

Marco da Silva Ferreira was born in Santa Maria da Feira (Portugal), initially trained as a physiotherapist and dedicated himself to swimming. From 2002, he became self-taught in the performing arts – from street movement culture through various dance styles to pop culture and clubbing. In 2010, he won the television competition »So you think you can dance – Portugal« and then danced professionally in choreographies by André Mesquita, Hofesh Shechter, Sylvia Rijmer, Tiago Guedes, Victor Hugo Pontes and Paulo Ribeiro, among others. His first own choreography was »Hu(r)mano« in 2013, followed by pieces such as »BROTHER«, »Bisonte«, »Corpos de Baile« with the Portuguese National Ballet Company and the production »SIRI« in collaboration with filmmaker Jorge Jácome. His pieces »Fantasie Minor«, »C A R C A Ç A« and »førma Inførma« (with the South African company Via Katlehong) premiered in 2022. Marco da Silva Ferreira is currently engaged at the Maison de la Danse in Lyon.
