Soloist
Lena Kühn
Lena Kühn, born in 2001, lives in Munich and attends the branch of arts of the Max Josef Foundation Grammar School (Max-Josef-Stift Gymnasium). At the age of 6 she became a member of the Münchner Chorbuben und -mädchen and sang with the performance choir in various churches and in the Munich Philharmonic Hall. A recording of Mozart's »Idomeneo« marking the reopening of the Cuvilliés Theatre then fascinated her so much that she started to take singing lessons with the soprano Beate Gartner and joined the children's chorus of the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2010.
As a participant in »Jugend musiziert« in 2011, she was awarded second prize in the »Solo Singing« category and sang in »Carmina Burana« at the Gut Immling Opera Festival in the summer of the same year. With the children's chorus of the Bayerische Staatsoper she has appeared in performances including »Hänsel und Gretel«, »La bohème«, »Turandot«, »Carmen«, »Wozzeck« and »Die Frau ohne Schatten« on the stage of Munich's Nationaltheater. At the 2012 Opera Festival, Lena sang and played one of the Blue Girls in Sven Holm's music theatre event »Wagnerin. Ein Haus der Kunstmusik« and was chosen by the director David Bösch for a central solo in his production of »Das schlaue Füchslein«.
In 2013, Lena played the child that shoots the Holy Fool in Calixto Bieito's production of »Boris Godunov«, which is now also available on DVD. In her free time, she reads and draws or writes stories, plays the violin or performs aerial silk acrobatics. The part of Jemima in »Chitty Chitty Bang Bang« is her first role in a musical.
