Iris Baumhof
Iris Baumhof gained her first insights into the world of opera at the age of six as a member of the children’s choir at Stuttgart State Theatre. After graduating from high school, she studied school music at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, where she subsequently completed a postgraduate programme at the Opera Choir School. She gained choral experience in the Württemberg Chamber Choir under the direction of Dieter Kurz and in the Gächinger Kantorei under Helmuth Rilling, where she was also entrusted with smaller solo tasks. She has also performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and recitals in the fields of church music, opera and operetta and took part in a masterclass for singing with Maria Venuti and Edith Wiens.
Since the 1995/1996 season, Iris Baumhof has been a permanent member of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz choir as 2nd soprano, where she also performs solo roles, such as the Sandman in »Hänsel und Gretel«. She is also active in numerous church concerts and operetta evenings in the greater Munich area. In 2001, she recorded a CD of songs in Prague and took part in a major concert tour of Japan, where she sang arias and duets from operas by Mozart.
