Felix Meybier

Felix Meybier was born in Karlsruhe and grew up in the Northern Black Forest. While he was still young, he received piano and violin lessons and undertook an extensive singing training in the Christophorus-Kantorei Altensteig.

He then initially studied School Music at the Stuttgart Academy of Music, with violin as his main instrument and also focussing on singing. This was followed by conductor training with Per Borin in Stuttgart and Ralf Weikert in Lucerne, which he completed in 2012 with a master's in Opera Conducting. He supplemented his studies by taking part in various masterclasses, with Jorma Panula, Karl-Anton Rickenbacher and Morten Schuldt-Jensen amongst others. He also gained important inspiration from Veronika Stoertzenbach.

He has conducted such orchestras as the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Württemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and the Filharmonia Oltenia Craiova, plus opera performances at the Lucerne Theatre, the Wilhelma Theatre Stuttgart and a number of independent productions. As a choir director, he has worked with such groups as the Choir of Stuttgart University, the Academy Choir of the Stuttgart Academy of Music, the vocal ensemble Circus Musicus and the Nürtingen chamber choir »coro per resistencia«.

Alongside his conducting activity, he also works as a singer. He has been involved as a soloist and ensemble singer in a wide range of concerts, CD, radio and television recordings, e.g. with the Kammerchor Stuttgart, Gächinger Kantorei or the ensemble »KlangKunst« which he founded in 2010.

He has been working at the Gärtnerplatztheater since the 2012/2013 season, initially as deputy choir director and then, since February 2015, as choir director and conductor.
