Stage and costume design

Daniel Sommergruber

Daniel Sommergruber studied scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. From 2003 to 2011, he was regularly employed as an assistant stage designer and set builder at the Melk Summer Festival. From 2009 to 2011, he was assistant to Erich Wonder at the Burgtheater in Vienna, and in 2012, he created the sets for »Ein ungleiches Paar« at the Berndorf Summer Festival. In 2012 and 2015, he was employed as assistant stage designer at the Gärtnerplatztheater for the productions of »Das Dschungelbuch« and »Cinderella«, and in 2015 he worked in the same function at the Wiener Festwochen for the production of the operas »Herzog Blaubarts Burg / Geistervariationen« in a staging by Andrea Breth.

Since 2015, Daniel Sommergruber has worked as a stage and costume designer for the St. Lambrecht travelling theatre, where he has been responsible for stage designs for »Alice im Wunderland« and »In 80 Tagen um die Welt« amongst others. In 2016, he created the sets for »Die Odyssee« at the Melk Summer Festival, followed by the sets for »Bartholomäusnacht« there in 2017. In addition, he also works as a visual artist in Vienna.
