Daniel C. Schindler

Daniel C. Schindler studied drama, media science and musicology (B.A.) at the University of Bayreuth as well as drama (M.A.) at the Ruhr University of Bochum where he in the summer of 2009 completed his studies with honours.

After various studies-related internships, including ones at Baden-Baden Theatre, the Stuttgart Youth Opera, Essen Theatre and the Music Theatre in Industrial Gelsenkirchen, he was from 2009 to 2011 employed as a music dramaturge at Dortmund Theatre where he, among other things, worked together with producers like Jetzke Mijnssen, Christian Pade and Lukas Hemleb. After an interim stint as guest dramaturge at the National Theatre in Mannheim, he worked from 2011 to 2014 as executive dramaturge for Münster Youth Opera.

In addition, Daniel C. Schindler in past years worked as a translator of Italian opera librettos (among others, for the Berlin Staatsoper) and celebrated initial successes as an author and librettist. Thus his musical Purim play, Stella das Zebra, was premiered in the 2010/2011 season at Dortmund Theatre. Since 2012 he has additionally received a doctorate under Monika Woitas at Ruhr University Bochum with the dissertation subject of »Futuristic Potential in Public Musical Theatre Business«.

From May 2014 till August 2019 he worked at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. Since August 2019 he is music dramaturge at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.

Productions
