Anja-Nina Bahrmann

Anja-Nina Bahrmann studied at the Robert Schumann Academy in Düsseldorf and completed her studies there in 2008 by gaining a distinction in the concert performance examination. She is a prize-winner of many competitions, including the Richard Strauss Competition in Munich in 2005. She made her stage début in 2006 as Bastienne in »Bastien et Bastienne« at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. The young singer first appeared at the Theater an der Wien in 2007 as Barbarina in »Le nozze di Figaro«; in 2009 she took over the role of Flaminia in »Il mondo della luna« there under Nikolaus Harnoncourt and in 2011 she sang the role of Lucia in »The Rape of Lucretia«.

From 2006 to 2009 she was engaged in Linz, where she sang such roles as Zerbinetta (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Oscar (»Un ballo in maschera«), the title role in »La Calisto« and Susanna (»Le nozze di Figaro«). Since the 2009 season, she has been a member of the ensemble of the Volksoper in Vienna where she has enjoyed success in roles such as Rosina (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Adele (»Die Fledermaus«), Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«) and Konstanze (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«). In 2011 she made her début at the Glyndebourne Festival in »Rusalka« under Sir Andrew Davis, appeared as Costanza in Mozart's »Il sogno di Scipione« at the Musikverein in Vienna under Nikolaus Harnoncourt and sang in the first performance of Gavin Bryer's »War in Heaven« at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2012 she made her début at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Aspasia in »Mitridate« and guested at the Bregenz Festival as Pamina in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, she appeared in roles including Zdenka (»Arabella«) at the New National Theatre in Tokyo and the title role in »La traviata« at the Volksoper in Vienna.
