Norbert Ernst

Born in Vienna, tenor Norbert Ernst is in high demand internationally for German repertoire roles. In 2024, he sang Loge in the premiere of »Rheingold« at La Scala in Milan. In recent seasons, he has performed the title role in »Tannhäuser« at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and Tristan (»Tristan und Isolde«) in Bratislava, among other roles. He also played Prince Shuisky (»Boris Godunov«) at the opening of the season at La Scala in Milan. His repertoire also includes Walter von Stolzing (»Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«), Siegmund (»Die Walküre«), the title role in »Lohengrin«, Paul (»Die tote Stadt«) and Florestan (»Fidelio«). Norbert Ernst is a regular guest at the opera houses of Munich, Vienna, Barcelona, Geneva, Berlin, Paris, London and Milan, where he has worked with Franz Welser-Möst, Christian Thielemann, Kirill Petrenko, Peter Schneider, Sebastian Weigle, Bertrand de Billy, Simone Young, Ingo Metzmacher, Ulf Schirmer, Pierre Boulez, Adam Fischer and Pinchas Steinberg, among others.
