Gabriele Heimann

Since 1983, the costume and stage designer Gabriele Heimann has worked at countless major theatres in Germany and the rest of Europe in the field of opera, theatre and ballet. Her work has taken her to such venues as Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Wiener Festwochen, Saarbrücken State Theatre, Mannheim National Theatre, Städtische Bühnen Münster and Theater St. Gallen, the Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg and the theatres in Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nice and Klagenfurt. She has designed the costumes for many different first performances, including Detlev Glanert’s »Der Spiegel des großen Kaisers« and »Das Holzschiff« along with Ingomar Grünauer’s »Die Rache einer russischen Waise« and the first German-language performance of Michael Tippett’s »The Knot Garden«. At the Nuremberg State Theatre, Gabriele Heimann designed costumes for such performances as Donizetti’s »Emilia di Liverpool« and Korngold's »Die tote Stadt«. She has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with director Andreas Baesler, on operas such as »Les Troyens« at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, »L’italiana in Algeri« and »L’elisir d’amore« at the Aalto Theatre in Essen and »La fille du régiment« in Nuremberg.
