Enrico Lombardi
After studying piano, organ and composition, he graduated with honours and distinction in Orchestral Conducting from the Florence Conservatoire, and in Choral Music and Choral Conducting from the Ferrara Conservatoire. At the same time, he obtained a degree in Music Studies from the University of Bologna, and finally specialised at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and, for conducting technique and interpretative style, with Francesco Lanzillotta and Bruno Taddia.
Active in both the symphonic and operatic fields, he has worked with artists such as the singers Olga Peretyatko, Varduhi Abrahamyan, René Barbera and Roberto Scandiuzzi, directors Alessio Pizzech and Graham Vick, violinist Soo Young Lee and guitarist Pepe Romero, and has conducted ensembles such as the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the Orchestra i Pomeriggi musicali and the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the »G. Rossini« Symphony Orchestra of Pesaro and Fano, the Roma Sinfonietta, the Marche Philharmonic Orchestra and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, with a repertoire ranging from Viennese classicism to nineteenth-century opera, and from Rimsky-Korsakov and Debussy to the avant-garde of the third millennium. His operatic successes include Cherubini’s »Il giocatore« at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (2017), Bizet’s »Carmen« at the Macerata Opera Festival (2019), Rossini’s »La Cenerentola« on the AsLiCo circuit (2022), Verdi’s »La traviata« on the Opera Lombardia and Rete lirica delle Marche circuits (2022–2023) and Verdi’s »Aida« at the Teatro Sociale in Como (2023).
He achieved a personal triumph with both audiences and critics when, stepping in for Maestro Lanzillotta, he made his debut in the rarely performed »Adelaide di Borgogna« at the Rossini Opera Festival, a production that was immediately broadcast internationally by the Mezzo television channel (2023). Among his recent engagements is the acclaimed revival of Lauro Rossi’s »I falsi monetari« (»La casa disabitata«) at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano for the »Il belcanto ritrovato« festival (2024); he will be back there for today’s world premiere of a great 19th-century operatic masterpiece, as well as on the Opera Lombardia circuit for Donizetti’s »L’elisir d’amore«, and in concerts with the »G. Rossini« Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (2025).
