Costume Design
Dorothee Joisten
The set and costume designer Dorothee Joisten studied theatre studies, psychology and philosophy at LMU in Munich, as well as in Venice and Sheffield, graduating with a Master’s degree. During her studies, she worked as an assistant at the Münchner Kammerspiele and collaborated with, among others, Luk Perceval, Lars-Ole Walburg and Anna Viebrock. She was later permanently employed as a costume assistant at Oper Frankfurt and Schauspiel Frankfurt.
Since 2012, she has been working as a freelance costume designer for opera and theatre. She works with Christiane Lutz, Jan-Christoph Gockel, Ute M. Engelhardt and Jan Philipp Gloger, and has created the costume designs for productions at the Frankfurt Opera, Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Semperoper Dresden, the Tyrolean Festival Erl, the Salzburg State Theatre, the State Theatres in Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt and Saarbrücken, the Giessen City Theatre and the Wuppertal Opera.
