Christiane Lutz

Christiane Lutz’s artistic development took shape in Vienna, where she first completed a degree in Theatre Studies, Art History, Musicology and Business Administration, before going on to study musical theatre directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts.

She was a finalist in the Ring Award and a scholarship holder at the Bayreuth Festival and the Salzburg Festival. Following permanent engagements at the Theater Lübeck and Graz Opera, she coordinated the Vienna State Opera’s Children’s Opera Tent and was a lecturer in stage design at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

In 2024, she took over project development for the inaugural season of NEST, the Vienna State Opera’s new venue.

Her productions to date include »Martha«, »The Magic Flute« and »Manon« at the Landestheater Salzburg, »Salome« at the Theater Lübeck, »The English Cat«, »The Consul« and »Mignon« at the Bavarian State Opera, »Der Reigen« at the Opéra National de Paris, »Rigoletto« at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, »Wozzeck« at the Staatstheater Cottbus, »Alcina« at the Graz Opera, »Rinaldo« and »Hänsel & Gretel« at the Theater an der Wien, »The Emperor of Atlantis« at the Semperoper Dresden, and »Ulisse« at the Wiesbaden Bach Festival.

Upcoming engagements include Jacques Offenbach’s »Robinson Crusoe« at the Landestheater Salzburg, and »Die kleine Hexe« for the NEST at the Vienna State Opera.
