Anne Jung
The choreographer and dancer Anne Jung first trained as a rhythmic gymnast, competing with the German national team at the European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Games. Transitioning to dance, she trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. In 2009, Anne received a scholarship from Kunststiftung NRW and joined Ballettmainz under Pascal Touzeau’s s artistic direction. There, she performed works by Pascal Touzeau, Jacopo Godani, Georg Reischl, and Didy Veldman.
In 2014, she joined Nederlands Dans Theater I, dancing pieces by Marco Goecke, Paul Lightfoot, Sol León, Jiří Kylián, Medhi Walerski, Crystal Pite, Mats Ek and Franck Chartier. From 2017 to 2022, Anne Jung was a member of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company under Jacopo Godani, performing his works as well as those of William Forsythe and Marco Goecke. Since August 2022, she has been working as a freelance dancer and choreographer, creating works for international stages. As a choreographer, her career began with »#onewithtwo« for NDT Switch in 2016, followed by »#twowiththree« and »#threewithfour« for the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company. She won the Dysart Award in 2021, recognizing her as a promising choreographer, which led to a commission for Louisville Ballet, where she created »#fourwithsix«. In 2023, she created »#fivewithfive« for Noverre 2023 at Stuttgart Ballet. Her other choreographic works include »Strings Attached« for Ballett Graz in 2024, »Serenade Resilience«, »Furthermore« and »After the Rain« for DAF in Rome, and »Aqua« for Ballett Graz. Other creations include »Ashes« for Poznań Opera Ballet, »Beneath the Woods« for Ballett Augsburg and »New Works« for the Ballet Basel.
Anne Jung’s repertoire includes notable works such as William Forsythe’s »Workwithinwork«, »NNNN«, and »Quintett«, Marco Goecke’s »Woke Up Blind«, »Thin Skin« and »7 Ages«, a solo created for her for the Origin Festival in 2023 with live music by the Richter Trio, and Jacopo Godani’s »High Breed« and »Postgenoma«. She has performed in prestigious galas such as Les Hivernales de la Danse, Dance Open in St. Petersburg, and the Benois de la Danse Gala at the Bolshoi Theatre. Anne Jung was nominated for the Benois de la Danse 2020/2021 as Best Dancer for »Carnegie Solo«. Her accolades also include the Dysart Award and numerous performances across the globe.
