Andreja Zidaric

The soprano from Slovenia studied at the Vienna Conservatory with Uta Schwabe and Michele Friedman and attended master classes with Thomas Hampson and Jerry Coyle, among others, as well as additional training with Patricia Nessy.

She has been an ensemble member at the Gärtnerplatztheater since the 2020/2021 season. Her repertoire there includes Cunegonde (»Candide«), Queen of the Night and Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«), Gretel (»Hänsel und Gretel«), Olympia (»Les Contes d’Hoffmann«), Sophie (»Werther«), Monica (»The Medium«), Adele (»Die Fledermaus«), Ottilie (»Im weißen Rössl«), Princess Fedora Palinska (»Die Zirkusprinzessin«), the title role in Humperdinck’s »Dornröschen« and Lehár’s »Friederike«, Louise Lautner in the world premiere of Johanna Doderer’s »Schuberts Reise nach Atzenbrugg«, Anna Reich (»Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor«) and Morgana (»Alcina«).

While still a student, she made guest appearances at the Vienna Operetta Summer and at the Baden City Theatre, where her roles included Stasi (»Die Csárdásfürstin«), Amber (»Hairspray«) and Stasi (»Polnische Hochzeit«). She also made a guest appearance at the Eggenfelden Theatre in the latter role. In 2014 she was the first Slovenian to join the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival, sang Blonde in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail für Kinder« and appeared as the First Noble Orphan in »Der Rosenkavalier« at the Großes Festspielhaus.

At the Dresden State Operetta Andreja Zidaric made guest appearances as Ottilie, Gretel and Taumännchen (»Hänsel und Gretel«). She sang in the world premiere of Stephen Schwartz’ musical »Schikaneder« at Vienna’s Raimund Theatre, where her roles included Maria Anna. She also made her debut as Lubanara in »Der Stein der Weisen« at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, as Rosina in »Il barbiere di Siviglia« at the jOPERA Festival at Tabor Castle and as Kondja Gül in »Die Rose von Stambul« at the Herbsttage Blindenmarkt. In 2019/2020 she returned to the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck as Violanta in the world premiere of the musical »Die Schattenkaiserin« and sang Countess Ceprano in »Rigoletto« at the Volksoper Wien. At the Mörbisch Lake Festival in 2021 she was the premiere cast member of Maria in »West Side Story«. In 2022 she made her debut in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein with the orchestra Die Tonkünstler under the musical direction of Lorenz Aichner.

Andreja Zidaric is a finalist and prize winner of various international competitions such as the Emmerich Smola Förderpreis 2016, the Heinrich Strecker Crossover Competition and the Nico Dostal Singing Competition. In March 2018, she sang in the semi-finals of the Lotte Lenya Competition in New York.
