Algın Özcan

Tenor Algın Özcan studied at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University and spent a year at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He earned his master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where he appeared on stage as Lindoro in Haydn’s »La fedeltà premiata« and as Aristée/Pluton in Offenbach’s »Orphée aux enfers«, among other roles. He gained additional artistic inspiration through master classes with Giacomo Aragall, José Cura, Eva Mei, and Alfonso Antoniozzi.

In 2018, he made his debut at the Istanbul State Opera with the tenor solo in Carl Orff’s »Carmina Burana«. That same year, he made his debut as Nemorino in »L’elisir d’amore« at the Oper im Berg in Salzburg. From 2020 to 2023, he was a member of the chorus at the Theater Altenburg Gera, where he also performed as a soloist. In 2022, he made a guest appearance as the Duke of Mantua in »Rigoletto« at the Teatro D’Annunzio in Pescara, and in 2023 he sang Ozia in Mozart’s »La Betulia liberate« with the Berliner Oratorientruppe. As part of Musica Civica 2025 in Treviso, he sang Don Ottavio in »Don Giovanni« and the Duke of Mantua. In addition, he made a guest appearance with Opera Incognita in Munich as Admetos in Gluck’s »Alceste«.

Since the 2023/2024 season, Algın Özcan has been a member of the chorus at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where he regularly takes on smaller solo roles, including the Officer in »Il barbiere di Siviglia«, Don Curzio in »Le nozze di Figaro« and Giuseppe in »La traviata«.
