Alain Wüest

Alain Wüest, born in Zurich, is a trombonist and has been a member of the training programme at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich since September 2026. He is completing his musical training at the Zurich University of the Arts under David Bruchez, where he is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy.

As a tenor and bass trombonist, Alain Wüest is at home in a variety of musical ensembles. Engagements and academy placements have taken him to, amongst others, the Orchestre de Paris, the Bergen National Opera, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and the Argovia Philharmonic. He is also a permanent member of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Swiss Armed Forces Big Band.

In 2023, Alain Wüest won first prize in the final of the Swiss Youth Music Competition. As a soloist, he performed in 2025 with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Zug City Orchestra; with the TONFLUG Ensemble, he made a guest appearance at the Murten Classics Festival. Alongside his work on stage, he is dedicated to music education and teaches trombone at the Zurich North Cantonal School.
