MINUTEMADE

Minutemade - that sounds like enormous time pressure, and that's what all choreographers who want to contribute a new episode to the Gärtnerplatztheater's cult dance soap opera, which has long since established its permanent place in the repertoire every year since 2013, are under.

The rules of the game: “One room. One week. 20 dancers”. And every week a new person for the choreography, who takes on the challenge of developing a unique and exclusive sequel to our “Minutemade” according to this principle: a new piece that picks up exactly where the last episode left off within just one week of rehearsals!

MINUTEMADE FOR DANCE

In 2013, ballet director Karl Alfred Schreiner invented a format for his ensemble that has long since become cult: Minutemade. In this “dance soap”, a choreographer creates a complete piece with up to 20 dancers in just five days. Anything goes. But: the new piece must begin where the previous piece ended. Where the choreographic journey then goes is open. At DANCE, the successful format is curated by the festival management, adapted to festival conditions and cast with top-class guests.
