»Prince Igor« nominated for the 2026 International Opera Awards
We are delighted to announce that the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has been nominated for the 2026 International Opera Awards for its production of the opera PRINCE IGOR!
The International Opera Awards, established in 2012, are regarded as the Oscars of the opera world and will be presented this year on 21 November in Vienna. The opera PRINCE IGOR, directed by Roland Schwab, is nominated in the »New Production« category.
We’re really looking forward to it and are keeping our fingers crossed for the awards ceremony in November.
TÜREN AUF MIT DER MAUS
Traditionell findet am Tag der Deutschen Einheit, dem 3. Oktober, der bundesweite Aktionstag Türen auf mit der Maus statt. 2026 ist das Motto »Kleine Wunder«.
Kleine Wunder entstehen im Theater jeden Tag - Ob auf, neben, über, unter oder hinter der Bühne. Der Zauber des Theaters gelingt nur, wenn alle mit anpacken.
Auch in der Spielzeit 2026/2027 öffnet das Gärtnerplatztheater seine Türen und kleine Besucherinnen und Besucher haben die Möglichkeit, große Wunder zu entdecken.

Operetten-Frosch für »DER GRAF VON LUXEMBURG«
Der BR-KLASSIK-»Spielzeit-Frosch« für die Saison 2025/26 geht an das Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz für DER GRAF VON LUXEMBURG von Franz Lehár in der Inszenierung von Peter Lund.
Wir sind stolz und voller Freude über diese Auszeichnung, die im Anschluss an die Vorstellung am 15. Januar verliehen wird.
Austrian Music Theatre Award 2026 for »Waldmeister«
We are delighted to announce that the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has been awarded the Austrian Music Theatre Prize for the operetta WALDMEISTER, directed by Artistic Director Josef E. Köpplinger!
The guest performance of the operetta WALDMEISTER at Johann Strauss 2025 Wien won the award in the category »Best Overall Operetta Production«.
