Kunst trifft Kunst
A dance performance as part of the exhibition »Sweeter than Honey. A Panorama of Written Art« in the Pinakothek der Moderne
Canadian choreographer and artist Dorotea Saykaly is developing a site-specific dance performance for the Pinakothek der Moderne in collaboration with the ballet ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. As a continuation of the existing KUNST TRIFFT KUNST (Art Meets Art) collaboration between the two institutions and in dialogue with the exhibition »Sweeter than Honey. A Panorama of Written Art«, »Untitled: graceful, chaotic« presents an ephemeral activation in which grace, gesture and vulnerability are condensed.
Dorotea Saykaly translates central motifs of the exhibition – gestural forms of expression and their expansion into space, as well as spoken words – into her choreographic language. Together with the dancers, Dorotea Saykaly creates an immersive live experience that proposes a poetic deconstruction of body and space. The performance responds directly to numerous works in the exhibition that were created against the backdrop of historical and contemporary political upheavals.
Dorothea Saykaly is also creating an act for this year's ballet soap opera »Minutemade« at the Gärtnerplatztheater.
