J. M. Barrie achieved it all – only he appears to have lost himself doing it. His plays celebrate successes, but his heart is empty, his marriage is on the rocks, his imagination dulled. Only when he meets the young widow Sylvia and her four sons does a door open, behind which there is playing, laughter and dreaming, as if there were no such thing as pain. Barrie dives deeper all the time into the world of these children, creates adventure and characters – and writes further away from reality all the time, and into the magical universe of »Peter Pan«. But can life really be outwitted with stories?
With »Finding Neverland«, pop icon Gary Barlow (Take That) and award-winning playwright James Graham have created a poetic new musical about the evolution of a myth, about loss and about the rescuing power of the imagination. It invokes creativity and the courage to keep alive a sense of wonder. An invitation to believe in miracles again and to escape the everyday for a moment.
