Nemorino is madly in love with Adina – unfortunately, she doesn’t see it quite the way he does! When the macho Sergeant Belcore shows up with his soldiers, seems to conquer Adina’s heart, and she even promises to marry him, Nemorino is deeply despaired. Fortunately, for him the quack doctor Dulcamara comes by singing the praises of miracle cures for all kinds of ailments. He conjures up a “love potion” for Nemorino, which turns out to be no more than a bottle of red wine, but ultimately achieves the desired goal. With “L’elisir d’amore”, the virtuoso melody maker

Gaetano Donizetti wrote (in just 14 days, supposedly) one of the most beautiful, cheerful Italian bel canto operas, full of loving humanity and cheeky liveliness. The audience enthusiastically celebrated “L’elisir d’amore” right away with its world premiere in 1832 in Milan. The opera’s popularity remains undiminished to this day – and almost every great tenor has melted hearts with “Una furtiva lagrima”!

Adina lies relaxed on a sun lounger, painting her fingernails. Yellow fans are set up around her. In the background, many people stand silhouetted against the light, holding their hands in front of their faces as if blinded by the sun. Above the scene hangs a large glowing sun in the shape of a lemon slice. The light is warm.

Adina is lying on her sun lounger in a pink swimsuit, reading a magazine. Behind her stands Gianetta, handing her an oversized ice cream cone. Nemorino watches the two of them, especially Adina, through binoculars. In the background, several members of the choir stand with their backs to the scene. The light is warm.

Alcina sits on her sun lounger wearing a colourful floral swimsuit. She holds an open magazine in her hand and tells a story. Gianetta sits next to her and looks at the magazine. The singers of the choir are gathered around them, listening intently and trying to catch a glimpse of the magazine.

Four men in beige uniforms stand side by side with their arms crossed and hold hands. The two in the middle wear trousers, and one of the men has colourful curlers in his hair. They all look to the side in the same direction. The backdrop resembles corrugated cardboard.

There are several white wooden folding chairs on the stage. Nemorino and Adina are sitting next to each other. She appears very confident, while he seems rather shy.

Nemorino stands on an oversized tube television and holds the antenna upwards. Sparks fly, and he receives an electric shock.
Only interference can be seen on the red television. Several people sit on chairs in front of the television and wait eagerly for it to work again.

Dulcamara climbs out of an oversized red tube television. The audience is surprised.

Dulcamara stands on stage with three showgirls. Around them is an enthusiastic, unlit audience. Dulcamara wears a glittering orange-green imperial coronation robe. In the background is a metal frame reminiscent of half a spider's web, illuminated in purple.

Dulcamara is in his dressing room, his bald patch exposed for lack of a toupee. He is sitting at a dressing table, one of his showgirls standing next to him. His costumes hang on a clothes rail. Nemorino pushes the costumes aside and looks at the unmasked Dulcamara in shock. The scene is accompanied by a guitarist standing on the left of the picture.

Nemorino kneels on the floor, wearing headphones and singing to himself. Alcina watches him in surprise, while Belcore pulls her away. In the background, the sun can be seen in the form of a large, glowing slice of lemon.

Four soldiers stand behind a table, with Belcore standing between them, throwing confetti into the air. The two soldiers next to him wave small flags.
Only the upper bodies of the two smaller soldiers in front of them are visible; they have miniature legs in front of them, which are standing on the table, creating a distorted image. These two also wear fake red noses.

A soldier takes the wedding photo of Adina and Belcore with all the guests. Dulcamara is at the front, with the bride and groom behind him. His showgirls and Gianetta stand to the side, holding up his cloak. Adina holds a bouquet of flowers and makes a mano cornuta with her other hand, sticking out her tongue. Belcore stands smugly beside her. The guitarist can also be seen. Behind the soloists is the wedding table, behind which the other guests from the choir are lined up to pose for the photo.

Gianetta has important news. She emerges from the ground, with a succulent plant on her head. The women's choir gathers around her and listens intently to what Gianetta has to say.

Nemorino sings ‘Una furtiva lagrima’. He gazes dreamily and hopefully into the distance. The stage is bathed in dark blue light; the sun is no longer hanging in the sky but rolling onto the stage. In the background, the empty wedding table can still be seen, and scattered succulents are scattered across the stage.

Dulcamara, dressed in striking green and orange clothing, stands very close to Adina, who is wearing her wedding dress, and wants to sell her one of his love potions. The scene is accompanied by a guitarist with wings, who kneels behind the two of them. In the background, the wedding table with the cake can be seen. The background is a bluish evening hour with the low silhouette of a landscape.
