A love that cannot be, in a time when nothing is safe. The Second World War rages on, Argentina remains neutral, Buenos Aires, however, is not a friendly place. Spies from all sides choose the city as their meeting point and swap information in the dim light of the tango bars, Europe’s persecuted believe they are safe here, the war-weary have fled the mass killing. And in the midst of it all two artists try to be together and to live a forbidden love. But their longing for each other is caught between the two sides, and soon the dream of happiness is no more than a memory of secret passion – a desperate dance on a volcano in a city on the brink of disaster.
After »Berlin 1920« and »Chicago 1930«, ballet director Karl Alfred Schreiner now choreographs the third part of his dance examination of the developments of the 20th century in the metropolises of the world, in which the atmosphere of the time was decidedly concentrated. Rubén Dubrovsky, our Principal Conductor born in Buenos Aires, conducts.
