Robson Bueno Tavares

After completing his Bachelor’s degree in singing at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) in Brazil, where he studied under the soprano Martha Herr, he went on to complete his Master’s degree with distinction at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica di Adria »Antonio Buzzolla« in Italy, where he continued his training at the Accademia d’arte Lirica di Osimo, studying under Raina Kabaivanska, William Matteuzzi and Alberto Zedda. Among the competitions he has won are first prize at the »Maria Callas« International Singing Competition in São Paulo in 2009 and one of the prizes at the 2016 Giesinger Culture Prize for the opera »Short Lived«, which was written by Tom Smith for the occasion.

Robson Bueno Tavares has performed at venues including the Teatro Guaira in Curitiba, Brazil; the Teatro La Fenice and the Teatro Malibran in Venice; the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza; the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples; the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall and the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre in China; and the Gerard Bechar Centre in Jerusalem. In addition to his ongoing work with early music, chamber music and symphonic music, the opera roles he has performed include the title role in »Rigoletto«, Scarpia (»Tosca«), Alfio (»Cavalleria rusticana«), Figaro (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Seneca (»L’incoronazione di Poppea«), Miller (»Luisa Miller«), Giorgio Germont (»La traviata«), Ramfis (»Aida«), Saint-Bris (»Les Huguenots«), Friedrich (»Das Liebesverbot«) and Uberto (»La serva padrona«).

He is currently engaged as a bass in the choir of the Staatstheater at the Gärtnerplatztheater.
