Juan Carlos Falcón

Singing studies at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich with Reri Grist and Claes H. Ahnsjö were followed by permanent positions as an ensemble member at the theatres in Coburg, Hof, Regensburg and since 2016 at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.

2002–2016, Juan Carlos Falcón has worked as a freelance opera and oratorio singer. He has made guest appearances in stage works by Handel, Mozart, Donizetti, Strauss and Rossini at such venues as the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, the theatres in Münster, Kaiserslautern, St Gallen and Klagenfurt, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, the State Operas of Hanover and Nuremberg, the Vienna Volksoper and the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse.

In 2007 he sang the role of Hot Biscuit Slim in Britten's »Paul Bunyan« at the Bregenz Festival. In 2010, his concert appearances included Haydn's »Die Jahreszeiten« and Dvořákʼs »Stabat Mater« in the Triphony Hall Tokyo and in Kobe (Japan). In the same year, he took on the title role in the first performance of the newly discovered opera by Cherubini »Koukourgi« at Klagenfurt City Theater. At Gärtnerplatztheater, he appeared among others as Deodatus Graf Schrullenhuf-Wullersdurff in the first performance of Friedrich Cerhaʼs »Onkel Präsident«, Pedrillo (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Carlos Rodriguez Parzifal Canefas (»Salon Pitzenberger«), Knusperhexe (»Hänsel und Gretel«), Jupiter (»Semele«), Monostatos (»Die Zauberflöte«) Triquet (Eugene Onegin), as Bazillus in the world premiere of »Der Tollste Tag« by Johanna Doderer and Peter Turrini, and in the title role of Offenbach’s »La Grande-duchesse de Gérolstein«.
