Johannes Overbeck

Johannes Overbeck received his first bassoon lessons from Peter Musson in Krefeld and studied bassoon with Helman Jung in Detmold, graduating with a degree in artistic maturity and instrumental pedagogy as well as chamber music with Jost Michaels. During his studies he was already a regular guest performer with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie Herford, the Landestheater Detmold and the Bielefeld Philharmonic. In 1986 he was engaged as contrabassoonist in the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and since 1987 he has been principal bassoonist in the orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. In addition to his orchestral activities, he is involved in musical youth education as a lecturer in chamber music and orchestral courses, as a juror at competitions such as “Jugend musiziert” and as an instrumental teacher and composer of children's musicals.
