Hyo Shimizu

Hyo Shimizu was born in Sydney, where he began his training. Between 2019 and 2022, he studied at the Akademie des Tanzes Mannheim. He won prizes at various competitions; in 2022 he reached the final of the prestigious Prix de Lausanne and took part in the NDT Summer Intensive. In the 2022/2023 season, he was a member of the Saarland State Ballet under the artistic direction of Stijn Celis and was subsequently taken on by the ensemble. In Saarbrücken, he has danced in choreographies by Johan Inger, Caroline Finn, Hans Van Manen, Marco Goecke, Ohad Naharin, Brian Arias, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Kurt Jooss and David Dawson, among others.
