Herbert Schuch

Herbert Schuch is one of Germanyʼs leading pianists. He attracted international attention when he won three major competitions within a year: the Casagrande Competition, the London International Piano Competition and the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna. He performs regularly at international venues and festivals such as the Kennedy Centre, the Elbphilharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Salzburg Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Kissinger Sommer and the Heidelberger Frühling.

He has performed with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest Den Haag, the Orchestra della RAI Torino, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Munich Philharmonic, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg and the Festival Strings Lucerne. His chamber music partners include Nicolas Altstaedt, Julia Fischer, Maximilian Hornung, Sebastian Manz and Daniel Müller-Schott. He forms a piano duo with pianist Gülru Ensari.

Herbert Schuch has recorded over 20 albums, including several award-winning releases. He is an exclusive artist of the French label naïve. His most recent recording is of Johannes Brahmsʼ two piano concertos with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tung-Chieh Chuang.
