Soloist
Theresa Dax
Born in Vorau in Styria (Austria), soprano Theresa Dax regularly performs as a soloist in concerts and productions all over Europe. In 2013 she debuted in the Musikverein Graz with Johannes Brahms’s »Ein Deutsches Requiem« under the baton of Johannes Prinz. In addition, she won the first prize in the Voice section of the »21st International Brahms Competition« and the Special Award for the »Best Song Duo« with the pianist Andreas Fröschl. Other recent successes include a career development prize from the »Professor Armin Weltner Foundation«, and a debut at the Musikverein Vienna in the concert series »Nun klingen sie wieder«.
After completing a double Bachelor of Arts degree (Voice and Instrumental/Vocal Pedagogy) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Theresa Dax went on to complete a Master’s degree in Song & Oratorio with Robert Holl, Gabriele Fontana and Edith Lienbacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she graduated with honours in 2017.
While finishing her studies, she was accepted by Teatro alla Scala Milano for the »Accademia di perfezionamento per cantanti« in 2015, including a debut in the role of Papagena in »Die Zauberflöte« with conductor Ádám Fischer and director Peter Stein, and the role of Barbarina in a new production of »Le nozze di Figaro« conducted by Franz Welser-Möst and directed by Frederic Wake-Walker. She also performed the role of Tebaldo in »Don Carlo« with conductor Myung-Whun Chung, in a production by Peter Stein in 2017. Theresa Dax is also active as a singing teacher in Vienna, accompanying and coaching choirs and ensembles.
