Dovile Siupenyte

Dovilė Šiupėnytė was born in Lithuania. In 2000–2012 she studied piano with Ramutė Dikčiuvienė and choral conducting with Jurijus Kalcas at the Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis National School of Arts in Vilnius. In 2004 she won 1st prize at the »Piano Forte« competition and in 2010 and 2012 2nd and 3rd prize respectively at the international »Jono Aleksos« young conductors’ competition in Vilnius. In 2012 she conducted the opera »Meilė ir mirtis Veronoje« by Kęstutis Antanėlis at the Dance Theatre in Vilnius and in the same year began studying choral conducting with Johannes Prinz and musical theatre correpetition with Wolfgang Bozic and Wolfgang Wengenroth at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. In 2013–2018 she conducted ensembles such as Singkreis Wolfsberg, Lehrer-Chor (Graz) and PrimaTona (Graz). Previously, Dovilė Šiupėnytė worked with opera choirs at MUMUTH, the House of Music and Music Theatre of the University of Graz, where she also worked as choral assistant and répétiteur in 2017–2018. She conducted the symphonic wind orchestra and the contemporary music ensemble of the university and participated in master classes in orchestral conducting under the direction of Wolfgang Dörner in Szombathely (Hungary) and with the Philharmonic Choir in Slovenia. In 2018–2021 she was engaged as choral assistant at the Theater Chemnitz, where she conducted the children’s choir and the extra choir. Since the 2021/2022 season, she has been deputy choral director of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
